The BBC website began its official life back in December 1997 with this very simple design. It was a basic offering with two sections to the site. Over time it has grown to encompass a great deal more. oldmasterflash.com is one of Futurate's internally sponsored projects (i.e. there wasn't a client). It was designed to explore the possibilities offered by integrating Adobe Flash, CakePHP and jQuery. The site allows anyone to create a painting in the style of the renowned Renaissance painter Guiseppe Archimboldo. Website visitors use an intutive Adobe Flash interactivity to create their painting from a range of pre-existing stamps. They can also select a background and frame for their masterpiece. Once complete they can save their work and publish to the public gallery for other artists to rate and comment on.
